Welcome to the Counselor's Corner! Here is a little bit about the Counseling Program at West Elementary!
Social-Emotional Learning
This year WSISD is continuing to use the 7-Mindsets program with all students to help them grow in areas such as accountability, having an attitude of gratitude, etc. The curriculum is based on a lot of research about what people need to know from an emotional and/or social viewpoint to be both successful and happy. I will be going into each classroom regularly to present lessons on these mindsets. I will also be sending home information for you so that you can have the confidence of knowing what I'm presenting, and also partner with me as we help your child(ren) grow to his or her full potential.
GroupsSometimes students are pulled for groups that cover specific topics like divorce, grief, friendships, social skills, and self-esteem. These groups meet throughout the year.
Student ConferencesStudents who may need to talk about an unexpected event or something that is troubling them are welcome to visit with the counselor. Students, Teachers, and Parents, can suggest for a student to visit with the counselor at any time. Feel free to call or email me.
Student ServicesThe school counselor works with teachers, staff, and district staff to help families and students receive services they may need.
