Welcome to the Counselor's Corner! Here is a little bit about the Counseling Program at West Elementary!
At West Elementary students are working hard on Being Better Bears! Each day we talk about Character traits such as Responsibility, Integrity, and Honesty! Students are encouraged to do good deeds for others. Sometimes bears at West are Caught Being Better Bears! Those students are also recognized on the announcements!
Every 6 weeks students come to Character Camp and learn About Friendship, Bullying, Social Skills, The importance of academics, and planning for the future!
Sometimes students are pulled for groups that cover specific topics like divorce, grief, friendships, social skills, and self- esteem. These groups meet throughout the year.
Students who may need to talk about an unexpected event or something that is troubling them are welcome to visit with the counselor. Students, Teachers, and Parents, can suggest for a student to visit with the counselor at any time.
The school counselor works with teachers, staff, and district staff to help families and students recieve services they may need.
