West Elementary was established in 1952 and renovated in 2005. The campus currently serves 550 pre-kindergarten through fourth grade students and houses the Early Childhood Academy and First Class Learning Center.

Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, the West Elementary will become the West Early Learners Academy and serve only WSISD pre-k and kindergarten students. The district will redraw boundaries lines this spring to accommodate the school's first through fourth grade students who live in that attendance zone.

The West Early Learners Academy is part of the 2022 WSISD bond program.

WSISD announces new school boundaries for West Elementary beginning with 2024-25 school year

As part of the 2022 bond program, West Elementary will become the West Early Learners Academy starting with the 2024-25 school year. The Early Learners Academy will be a focused campus for all WSISD pre-k and kindergarten students.

To implement this significant change, the WSISD Board of Trustees voted to adopt new school boundary lines that will impact West Elementary families starting next school year.  Current West Elementary kindergarten through fourth graders will attend a new elementary in August 2024.

District officials worked with a demographer to develop a plan that would provide the easiest transition for our families, and students who live outside the two-mile radius from their new elementary school will be eligible for bus transportation.

Blue Haze Elementary, Liberty Elementary and the North Elementary STEAM Academy all provide a wide range of rigorous academic programs, extra-curricular classes and family engagement activities we know your child will love. Click here to view a larger image of the school boundaries.

We encourage our families to attend West’s Glow Night on Thursday, March 7 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Our district leadership and elementary principals will be available to answer questions about the changes as well as share information about the new schools. Visit the campus website to learn more about your child’s new school!

The event will also include glow in the dark literacy and math activities for each grade level as well as fun glow games for all ages.  Families will also have the opportunity to visit the Scholastic Book Fair.

As part of the grade realignment, incoming fifth graders will attend an elementary school starting in August (Tannahill Intermediate will only serve sixth graders in 2024-25). For more information about the grade realignment and bond program, click here.
